My Experience with TEKA SAMUHA NEPAL:

Teka is a very serious, good-hearted and devoted organization; I can affirm this from experience because I joined TEKA as an oversea volunteer. In fact, I am a 20 year-old Canadian woman who decided to come to Nepal to teach English and work in several different organizations and all of that under Anil Adhikari (Teka's Program Coordinator) 's supervision. I had been in Nepal for about a week and planned on staying for three more months.

TEKA provides several types of very helpful services to its volunteers such as Nepali language lessons, family stay programs, working opportunities in schools, children and women centers, environmental campaigns and many more…As I had witnessed since I arrived in Kathmandu, TEKA makes sure that every volunteer's stay in Nepal is a success by supervising their individual programs daily. I highly appreciate the 30-hour nepali language teaching because, in my opinion, it gave me the chance to adapt easily, or at least more easily (!), to our new, and at first pretty shocking (!), cultural environment, more particularly to the Nepali family. The home stay program enables the volunteers to witness Nepali's own special culture daily and, in that manner, to understand, with a more objective point of view, the purposes of their cultural gestures and actions. The families chosen to receive volunteers are close relatives of TEKA's workers hence you are guaranteed to be welcomed in a good-hearted and very friendly family.

During my stay, I had an opportunity to see the Nepali wedding and that was non of other than Anil and my host family sister Sangeeta. I could see the detail procedure of Nepalese marriage ceremony and I believe that was my most wonderful and nice time in Nepal.

Also, if you wish, TEKA makes sure that you have seen all the important temples and different juristic places in Kathmandu as well as Nepal's natural countryside such as Pokhara and Chitwan National Park. However, everything depends on your wishes: TEKA arranges a program for you depending on your desires and gives huge importance to every of your feelings and opinions. So, I can affirm without a doubt that you won't be disappointed or deceived if you decide to join this very inspiring Nepali organization. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to e-mail me jany_007hotmail.com…I hope you are not too confused now!J ) !
