Environment Conservation

Environment is an obligatory part of human being. However it is at risk due to the many reasons of human being such as pollution, wider population, deforestation, lack of awareness and ignorance. Considering this serious situation, Teka initiated Environment Conservation Program in 2001. Initially it continually ran street protest on Earthquake Awareness mainly targeting to urban population. Currently, Apart from that, Teka organizes Environment Conservation Education Training and Orientation focusing to Eco Clubs of different schools coordinating WWF Nepal and Department of National Park and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC).


Sustainable Livelihood through functional literacy

Teka provides technical assistance to support sustainable livelihood of rural women who belongs various community forest user groups.

In 1999-2000, Teka executed Functional Literacy Program at Chapagaun VDC. The program was focused to 6 different women groups with the aim of developing social and economical capacity through literacy & income generating activities. The objective of Functional Literacy program is to help women from disadvantaged and deprived communities to make them able to read and write first and upgrade their economic situation by helping them to run income generating activities at second.

Volunteer Teaching Program

Teka initiated Volunteer Teaching Program in 2001. So far, numbers of Volunteers from across the world have worked under Teka by teaching English in the Government School. Teka also includes sessions like Yoga & Meditation, Nepali Language Orientation, Sightseeing, Exposure Visit and Village Tour in Volunteer program. 6 weeks to 6 months activities have been designed in this program. Volunteers stay at Nepali family and sometime work as a Counsellor in Women and Children Shelter and Environment Teacher at schools.

Human Right Protection & Promotion


Teka Samuha Nepal is associated in Human Right Protection & Promotion Campaign since 2001. It is one of the members of Alliance against Trafficking in Women and Children in Nepal (AATWIN) and also associated with the campaign on Violence Against Women (VAW). Teka provides its input in policy change of National Law on Trafficking and Domestic Violence. Teka participates on workshops and seminars focusing to Policy Makers, Security Personnel and Professional Groups being continuously carried out by AATWIN. Teka has also developed projects on Socio Economic Transformation of Dalit and Human Right Protection.

Library Promotion & Scholarship

Library is an important place for students. It helps them to extend their knowledge and education. Understanding this significance, Teka started Library Promotion since 2007. Teka is currently supporting Tangal High School, Kathmandu for promoting its library by collecting and providing books and reading materials. Teka has network with likeminded institutions working in the library establishment and promotion for instance Room to Read and various other Publication Houses. Teka has appointed and mobilized Library Promotion Assistants for Library Promotion Activities.

Teka started Scholarship support program since 2005. In 2009-2010, Teka has been provided scholarship support to 10 students at different Government Schools in Nepal. In 2010-2011, teka has continued support to these students belong to economically deprived, orphan and dalit communities. The students represent different part of the country such as; Kanchanpur, Kailali, Kavrepalanchowk, Lamjung, Chitwan and Nuwakot District. Teka plans to increase this number as per the available sources targeting to poor and disadvantaged students. Members of Teka are contributing for scholarship support.

 


Training and IEC & BCC Materials

Teka designs Training and delivers training on various issues such as; Literacy, Income Generation, Legal Advocacy, Environment Conservation Education, Leadership Development, Social Mobilization, Proposal and Report Writing and Appreciative Participatory Planning Action (APPA) targeting to rural communities.

Similarly, it also designs and develops IEC (Information, Education & Communication) & BCC (Behaviour Change Communication) Materials such as poster, comic, curriculum are developed by Teka to support the mentioned program activities. Teka has skilled and experienced man power to accomplish this task.
